Board of Directors
Prince of Peace Senior Apartments, Inc. is a Minnesota non-profit corporation and is an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Code. The Corporation was formed on November 18th, 1993. According to the By-laws set forth by the Corporation the Board of Directors shall consist of a minimum of 7, not to exceed 10, directors. The majority of the directors will be members in good standing at Peace Lutheran Church. The directors shall serve three-year terms and may serve for 2 successive terms.
Merline Duering- Executive Director of Prince of Peace Retirement Living, has over 30 years of experience in the senior care industry and 25 years in management. Merline is the Co-founder and council member of "Halloween Village", a nonprofit group that operates a community event near Winthrop, whose proceeds go to the local food shelf. She has served on two community boards and acted as the Treasurer for McLeod County Senior Expo. Merline is also a public speaker (both keynote and presenter) and past Director of McLeod West High School Drama Club. Merline held a position as a certified instructor for the American Red Cross, she taught CPR and 1st Aid to both laypeople and professionals. Merline is an ordained minister, licensed in the State of Minnesota to perform baptisms, marriages, and funerals. She is active in her church organization, having served as a Sunday School Teacher, Wednesday Bible study Teacher, Confirmation Teacher and Superintendent.
The continued success of Prince of Peace Retirement Living is “by the grace of God and good staff”. We are blessed with seven part-time employees, each bringing his or her unique talents.
Destini Doring - Services and Fundraising Coordinator (SFC) started with POPRL March 2015. She has 10 years of management/supervisor experience with 7 years in the senior care industry. She supervises the resident activities program and volunteer program. She is instrumental in the day to day activities and services available at POPRL. Destini coordinates our fundraising and campaign programs we have throughout the year to keep our mission strong. In addition, she helps with planning and organizing the events we have throughout the year.
Dixie Pfarr - Office Assistant (OA), started as a volunteer and in 1999 joined the staff. She helps with the printing and mailing of monthly newsletter.
Lindsay Mae - Foodservice and Housekeeping Supervisor started with POPRL July 2016. She is an experienced cook who prepares our “home-cooked” meals and desserts Monday through Friday. In addition, she makes "homemade" bakery items for the morning coffee groups. She supervises all kitchen and housekeeping staff.
Our Housekeeping/Kitchen Staff (HKS) is small but FANTASTIC and it includes Angie Miller, Colleen Bird and LouAnn Kulberg. Angie, Colleen and LouAnn do the housekeeping throughout the morning and help with the noon meal. The HKS staff rotates weekend and holiday cooking so our residents are able to partake in a nutritious meal 7 days a week.
Frank Pfarr - (Maintenance Department) is in charge of maintenance and custodial duties. He is an integral part of apartment preparation and the overall appearance and cleanliness of POPRL.
